After delays due to extended schooling and financial stress, large swaths of millennials are finally prepared to become homeowners. But after builders increasingly focused on the high-end sector, the market isn’t ready for the demand placed on entry-level homes. Supply, not necessarily cost, will be the straining point for homebuyers in 2020 as they search for an existing home from a shrinking inventory.
