Up-And-Coming Oakland Has The Nation’s Hottest Neighborhood

Oakland has become the solution to people who want to work in San Francisco or Silicon Valley but can’t afford to live in those places. People are flocking to the East Bay, particularly to Bushrod.

According to Business Insider, the neighborhood was named the nation’s hottest in a study by Redfin. With a median price of $817,000, homes are only on the market for 16 days and have an average sale-to-list percentage of 115.7 percent.

Some of the other popular neighborhoods are in New Orleans, Washington D.C., and Portland. Some nearby suburbs are represented, as well: Bellevue, Wash. (Seattle), Glendale, Calif. (Los Angeles), and Malden, Mass. (Boston).

The ranking looked at neighborhoods that experts expect to become up-and-coming hotspots, and highlights a growing trend: Homebuyers want the amenities of both suburban and city life. They're looking for big, renovated houses minus the price tag a place in the heart of a major city would bring.
