From the Southeast to the Pacific Northwest, Michigan to Beverly Hills, Calif., the top 10 cities that are best for retirement offer seniors a variety of options.

Taking the 10, 7, and number one spots, The Sunshine State remains a major hub for retirees. And with good reason: Top-ranked Naples, Fla. has the lowest tax burden on SmartAsset's list, (14.6 percent), and offers plenty of outdoor recreation and relaxation. According to retirement expert Javier Simon, "You can stretch your savings a bit more here if you’ve been investing in an IRA or any tax-deferred savings vehicle. In addition, the nonprofit Collier Senior Resources Organization can assist you with several healthcare and educational resources." Additionally, seniors account for more than half of Naples' population.

The retirement experts at SmartAsset began by compiling data about factors that matter most to retirees.
