When soccer star Abby Wambach renovated her Portland, Ore., home, one thing was missing: better lighting. So the renovation team, turned to Durham, N.C.-based Cree to solve the issue.

Cree installed about 150 new LED lights throughout Wambach’s renovated home, including New Cree LED Bulbs and BR30 LED Flood Lights. The Energy Star-rated bulbs and flood lights offer omni-directional light that mimic the incandescent lights they replace. In addition, the company says the bulbs consume almost eight times less energy for up to 27 years.

The new LED bulbs uses a 4Flow Filament Design that looks and lights like a traditional incandescent, offering a color rendering index of 83 to better display colors (read more about the bulb here), while the BR30 LED uses elements of the company’s SC5 Technology Platform. As a result in produces more light with fewer LEDs, resulting in a lower-cost system that does not sacrifice functionality.
