Gizmodo documents the bizarre trend where designers and builders are developing homes for upscale buyers that greatly resemble temporary homes and disaster shelters.

These homes, which writer Kelsey Campbell-Dollaghan dubs “Disaster Chic,” are structures that can be constructed quickly, either through prefabrication or 3-D printing, yet are sturdy enough to face a zombie apocalypse.
