DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap® R5.0 Helps Home Achieve Energy Star® Tier 3 and HERS Target Ratings

THE GOAL

To create a comfortable home large enough for a family of four that would qualify for an Energy Star® Tier 3 rating to help keep energy costs affordable.

THE CHALLENGE

In order to realize the HERS and Energy Star® Tier 3 ratings, it was necessary to find a product that provided continuous exterior insulation of at least R-5 while still allowing the house to breathe without adding a lot of cost for installation.

THE SOLUTION

DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap® R5.0 provided a continuous thermal break around the entire exterior of the house and provided the weatherization properties of regular DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®. The installation team was able to save installation time vs. installing a foam alternative. The HERS rating on the home registered at 38 providing the family with the energy savings necessary to fit their budget.
