The Greenest Neighborhoods in the U.S.

Happy Earth Day! To honor this holiday, Redfin compiled a ranking of cities with the highest shares of green homes. The study looked at listings of homes that included green features such as “energy efficient,” “solar,” and “LEED.”

Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Orange County, Calif. had the most neighborhoods in Redfin's top 10 list. The neighborhood of Malvern in Cleveland's Shaker Heights took the top spot as 66 percent of the homes listed for sale noted green features. The median sale price of all listings was $455,000, while the median sale price of all green listings was higher, $460,000. Shaker Heights also offers its own Climate Change Task Force.

In honor of Earth Day, we’re taking a look at the “greenest” neighborhoods across the country. Eco-friendly upgrades not only help preserve our beautiful planet for future generations, they’re better for your wallet, too. Green homes sold for $46,532 more on average in 2017 than homes without green features, according to our latest analysis. That’s some serious green in your pocket when it comes times to sell!
