Homeowners want less clutter and more access to electrical outlets in their bathrooms, so builders are installing more cabinets and incorporating power-strips in the top drawer.

The Houston Chronicle spoke with experts from the city’s Remodelers Council and found the most prominent trends for the modern bathroom. Homeowners want big showers with dual showerheads, heated floor tiles that look like they’re made of stone, mirrors that resist fogging, and toilets with "night light" seats.

A section by the hinges emits a soft, blue glow that eliminates the need to turn on the bathroom lights. Also popular are raised toilets for comfort and dual-flush options.
