Needless to say, a major hurricane has caused many residents along the Gulf Coast to postpone their plans to buy or sell homes.

Redfin spoke with Florida real estate agents to get a sense of Hurricane Irma’s effect on Florida’s housing market. The long-term impacts are still to be determined, but as for now, tour requests, new listings, and inventory have all dipped within the last few weeks.

According to Redfin, the biggest obstacle is getting closings rescheduled, and arranging for appraisers to re-inspect homes.

Initial reports from Redfin agents in Miami and Palm Beach indicate that most of the damage to homes in those areas was relatively minor, such as fallen trees, wind damage and blown-over fences. Streets flooded, but most homes were not flooded.
