According to Business Insider, LinkedIn and Google presented plans for their campus expansions to Mountain View, Calif., city council. Included in those designs were plans for housing.

Google’s petition had a clause that said if their plans were granted at least 1.5 million square feet of office space, it would build 150 affordable housing units in one of the nation’s most expensive housing markets.

The two tech giants aren’t the only ones playing in the housing market. Corporate neighbor Facebook is building a $120-million apartment community with 394-units within walking distance of its office, with 15 of these units dedicated as an affordable housing option.
