Millennials, not Baby Boomers, should really be considered the Me Generation. Compared to older generations, Millennials have shown a greater interest in personalizing their new homes.

CNBC reports that older Millennials, ages 28 to 36, are entering their homebuying years, and that their tastes are different than those of their predecessors. Their houses are used as a means of self-expression, the site notes.

Millennials desire energy-efficient homes with outdoor spaces. They like a wider range of décor choices. Due to YouTube, Pinterest, and other new media, Millennials have shown a passion for do-it-yourself projects.
