Generation 2 of the Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controller can save users up to 50 percent on their monthly water bills, the manufacturer says. The Generation 2 controller connects via a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, making the entire irrigation process controllable. Rachio accesses the Wi-Fi network to analyze upcoming weather and humidity levels and factors in soil types and lawn conditions to adjust usage, watering up to 16 zones. The Generation 2 comes with additional sensor options and LED lights that provide status alerts. The device can be controlled with voice command, working with Amazon Echo and Alexa. It’s compatible with other smart home devices such as Nest, Xfinity, Alarm.com, Control4, Creston, IFTTT, Nexia, and Wink.
