The latest ranking shows where homebuyers can make the most money and save the most money due to lower cost of living expenses. GOBankingRates compared income data, and expenses such as utility bills and groceries.

Of the ten cities ranked, Oklahoma City was named number one with an average income of $72,385, and estimated annual expenses of $18,701. This roughly translates to $53,684 annually to be put aside for savings, investment, or recreation, CNBC reports. The median monthly rent was $1,070. Charlotte, North Carolina placed as number 10 on the list with $63,673 left over between the average annual income, $86,922, and living expenses, $23,249.

In many U.S. cities, you don't have to choose between affordable areas and cities with high-paying jobs. GOBankingRates crunched the numbers to find places where the average annual salaries are high and the cost of living is low. To determine the top cities, GOBankingRates took into account median rent prices, groceries and utility bills, using data from Zillow, Numbeo and the U.S. Census Bureau.
