Wave of Developments to Roll Out on Denver’s Surrounding Farmlands

According to the Denver Post, a wave of urban life is creeping up on farmlands and prairies surrounding Denver as the city grows.

An example is the $600 million mixed-use project called Prosper, with 9,000 homes planned to occupy 5,100 acres of farmland approved by Arapahoe County.

“Developers of Denver’s next fringe communities aim to dispel the notion that their plans represent nothing more than the next wave of suburban sprawl,” the Denver Post reports. “[They insist] that these future communities will be designed with an eye toward walkability, connectivity, and community.”

Some existing residents of the rural area are concerned that the metro areas expansion presents a “direct encroachment” on their quality of life.
