The new refrigeration releases of 2021 show manufacturers are focusing on robust capacity, specialty storage, and personalization.

At the 2021 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, manufacturers touted a wide range of new appliances, but refrigeration received extra attention. Whether it be an advancement of smart technology, such as LG’s updated InstaView Door-in-Door fridge, or personalization options, like  Samsung’s Bespoke line, the fridges of 2021 are meant to meet homeowners’ needs for today and tomorrow.

And refrigerators and freezers are among the most upgraded appliances in the kitchen, according to Houzz’s 2021 Kitchen Design Trends Study. These cooling systems are more popular to replace than ovens, but trail behind dishwashers.

Storage continues to be a necessity and a pain point for homeowners in the kitchen. This issue increased even further with the pandemic, according to the National Kitchen and Bath Association’s Living Impacts Design study.

These new refrigeration releases for 2021 feature larger capacities, greater organization options, and customization options.

Fisher & Paykel’s latest refrigeration releases are a gift for smaller kitchen spaces that still want a panel-ready appliance. Although these new models include slimmer designs, the brand’s ActiveSmart and Variable Temperature Zone technologies are still included. Homeowners can also choose the slimmer sizes and pair it with other models.

What’s new about these models is its internal water and ice dispensing option. This allows for an uninterrupted exterior, the brand says. Dispensers are flush to the fridge, leaving the storage space undisturbed. These refrigerators are Energy Star rated, and homeowners can adjust the interior shelving to their liking.

Bosch 500 Series Standard-Depth Refrigerator

Bosch first debuted its freestanding refrigeration units with French door bottom mount counter-depth, and the brand announced its 500 Series expansion at KBIS 2021. These new fridges feature Bosch’s QuickIcePro System.

This ice system can make up to 12 pounds of ice per day or 40 glasses of ice, and Bosch claims its the fastest refrigerator ice maker on the market. The UltraClarityPro water filter promises to remove 99.99% of sediments in both water and ice. Bosch’s latest 500 Series is four inches deeper than its other models and can hold up to 22% more food, according to the company. Homeowners can customize the interior shelving as well.

Trims can also be chosen from the brand’s 10 standard metal options, such as copper and brass.

The 30-inch Column Refrigerator offers more depth and greater storage space than most cabinet-depth fridges, according to BlueStar. It comes with advanced temperature control that promises longer food preservation. Inside, clients can easily clean the glass and stainless steel interiors. Other features include LED lighting and touch screen controls.

The Column Freezer is available in 30- and 18-inch units with a commercial-style design. It includes an automated ice maker that increases ice by 50% with the ability to choose from different ice cube sizes.

Big Chill 30” Classic

Known for its retro designs, Big Chill will now offer its Classic fridge in a smaller 30-inch size. Clients still will be able to choose from more than 200 of Big Chill’s color options and five standard colors, such as matte black, classic white, French blue, and stainless steel.

Big Chill says its full size 36-inch Classic fridge is a popular option, so customers requested the slimmed down version. The 30-inch fridge offers a capacity of 19 cubic feet, clear crisper drawers, pull out wire drawers in the bottom freezer, and four interior fridge shelves.
