The first step for planning an outdoor shower is to consider what it will be used for. Homeowners don’t need much space for a place to rinse their puppy dogs, but they will need room if they want a spa-like experience.
Realtor.com offered five tips for installing outdoor showers, a summer-friendly home feature than is gaining in popularity.
Along with size, style, materials, and accents, designers and builders have to consider the shower’s plumbing solution. It’s best to use existing hot and cold water from the inside pipes, but a solar tank or instantaneous electric water heater can work, too.
And don't forget drainage: "The shower's plumbing might need to connect to a sewage line or a greywater reuse drain that flows out to the lawn," points out Matt Michaels, spokesperson for Lowe's Home Improvement.
