As home prices remain elevated, some homebuyers are searching for housing in lesser-known areas of the U.S. In particular, rural regions of the country are experiencing a slight spike in population, with some places seeing higher rates of growth than others. To understand these trends, GoBankingRates put together a list of the top rural housing markets that are likely to see an influx of buyers during 2025. Included in the list are: Bluffton, Ind.; Pittsburg, Kan.; Boone, N.C.; and Fredericksburg, Texas, among others.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture found that migration to rural areas was up 0.47% between 2021 and 2022, up from 0.01% before the pandemic. The connectivity of technology and the allure of a quiet lifestyle make rural settings more appealing to prospective homebuyers.
