Placing bets on where Americans are moving? According to Realtor.com, the correct wager is Nevada.

ATTOM’s recent Pre-Mover Housing Index compares the number of residential mortgage applications with the total number of single-family homes in a given area during 2018’s first quarter. Nevada scored the highest of all the states, meaning more people are planning to move there over the next 90 days.

This influx of people stems from three main reasons, Realtor.com says. First, Nevada residents pay no income tax, and business face various favorable tax policies as well. Second, new business are moving into Las Vegas and other Nevada cities, including the NFL Raiders and the Golden Knights hockey team, and bringing jobs in with them. Finally, homes in Nevada are affordable and abundant, thanks to rampant construction.

"This is a city that invests in itself—never have I seen so much construction in a city not for repair, but for forward expansion," says Nevada resident Alex Felice from BrokeIsAChoice.com. In addition to residential homes, "Las Vegas is working on roads now, widening them for future growth over the next 10 years."
