Hiring is up, and the national unemployment rate has fallen to a 17-year low, meaning 2018 may be a great time to find a job in a new state.

Arizona had four of the top five best cities in the U.S. for finding a new job -- Chandler (1), Scottsdale (2), Peoria (4), and Gilbert (5), and nine cities overall in WalletHub's study. Chandler and Peoria tied for the most highest employment growth in the study, with Gilbert, Arizona nabbing the next spot. Gilbert also had the second-highest median annual income.

College graduates, especially, will see a strong boost in their job prospects. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers plan to hire 4 percent more members from the Class of 2018 than from the previous graduating cohort. WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 26 key indicators of job-market strength, ranging from job opportunities, to employment growth, to monthly average starting salary.
