German kitchen products manufacturer Blanco has added a new low-divide farmhouse sink to its Ikon collection.

“When you break it down, the sink is the most used area in the kitchen by everyone in the household,” Tim Maicher, director of marketing for BLANCO, says. “By offering optional accessories with design details that include the low divide and apron front, we created a system that not only accommodates all users but enhances the workflow.”

The sink measures 33 by 19 inches around and 9.25 inches deep, and the outside cabinet measures 36 inches. With the divide sitting 5.5 inches from the sink bottom, the sink was made with ergonomics front-and-center, especially considering its apron front detail. Without the countertop in the way in addition to the low access point, homeowners can clean unwieldy dishes such as large pots and baking sheets without straining their arms or leaning over, according to the company. The divide also creates two spaces so users can clean and prep at the same time.

“Not only do these sinks enhance comfort, productivity, and efficiency with their ergonomic design features, they are also beautiful statement pieces available in a range of on-trend colors constructed with our extraordinarily durable and easy to clean Silgranit material,” Maicher says.

Made out of a composite material derived from up to 80 percent natural granite, the durable sink is scratch resistant and easy to clean, according to the company, which reduces the need to heavy-duty chemical cleaners. Blanco chose a finish with antimicrobial properties and that is heat resistant up to 536 degrees Fahrenheit.

If consumers want a more customized product, Blanco offers several optional accessories that keep the needs of a home chef in mind: a small grid, a large grid, a floating grid, a floating cutting board, and a 3-in-1 basket strainer. These add-ons can turn the sink into an extra workstation for homeowners in previously unused space. The floating cutting board that fits directly on the sink gives users another place to prepare ingredients: If a consumer is chopping vegetables, they can use the board and then easily scrape them into a bowl. Other accessories, such as the grid, also help consumers get the most out of their kitchen.

“The extra level created by the Floating Grid eases the strain of placing a heavy pot into the sink while also creating another space to place a bowl of prepped ingredients,” the company says. “It can also be used as a trivet on the countertop for placing hot cookware.”

Consumers can choose between nine colors: Anthracite, Biscotti, Biscuit, Café Brown, Cinder, Metallic Gray, Truffle, Concrete Gray, and white. Other sinks in the collection include a 30-inch and 33-inch apron single bowl sinks as well as a 27-inch farmhouse sink designed for smaller kitchens.
