Black Friday marks the biggest day in retail – providing you with an opportunity to save money on the tools that help you do high-quality work faster and more efficiently.

This year, The Home Depot is offering tiered savings on cordless tools that vary according to each tool’s power and run time. Purchase a cordless drill and impact combo kit from DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee or Ridgid and earn $50, $100 or $150 toward any additional cordless power tool, radio or battery. The more battery power and functionality the kit offers – the longer the tools run, and the more time / money you save.

Some of the industry’s most popular cordless power tool kits are included in the offer, such as:

Tools for light to medium-duty projects
o Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($199)
o Ridgid 18-Volt X4 Lithium-Ion Compact Drill & Impact Combo Kit with Radio ($199)
o Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($229)
o DeWalt 20-Volt Max Lithium-Ion Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($229)

Tools for heavy-duty projects
o Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Hammer Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($279)
o Ridgid 18-Volt X4 Lithium-Ion Hammer Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($279)
o Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Hammer Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($299)
o DeWalt 20-Volt Max Lithium-Ion Hammer Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($299)

Long-lasting, low maintenance tools for the heaviest-duty projects
o DeWalt 20-Volt Max Lithium-Ion Brushless Hammer Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($369)
o Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Hammer Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($379)
o Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Hammer Drill & Impact Combo Kit ($399)
o Ridgid 18-Volt X4 Lithium-Ion Combo Kit (5-tool) ($499)

When purchasing a cordless power tool kit, it’s important to think of the battery’s voltage and capacity. Select tools that have enough power to complete jobs you work on most often. For example, 1.5 to 2 amp-hour (AH) batteries are good for light to medium-duty projects, while 3 to 4 AH batteries can handle more heavy-duty projects, like drilling into concrete or stone.

Kits with the highest battery power often include added functionality, such as brushless motor technology. In a tool with a brushless motor, the motor adjusts according to the task. As a tool with a brushless motor senses more resistance, it draws more power. Less resistance means the tool pulls less power. In tools with standard brushed motors, brush friction will instead increase when set at higher speeds and reduce useful torque.

Cordless power tools last for years, so it’s important to select a brand and battery power that you’ll need on future projects, instead of focusing only on the project you are working on currently.
