“In addition to delivering the signature quality and reliable performance we’re known for in the laundry space, Bosch has always been committed to driving and reforming sustainable innovations,” Anja Prescher, director of brand marketing at Bosch Home Appliances, says. “With the goal of simplifying laundry day for consumers, our new 500 Series heat pump dryers with a patented self-cleaning condenser will modify the traditional laundry experience and offer our users a smart, time- and cost-saving solution, while also minimizing the impact on the environment.”

The 500 series heat pump dryer is the only model on the market with self-cleaning capabilities that eliminate the need for homeowners to manually clean and maintain the condenser, according to the company. After collecting moisture from wet clothes, the dryer uses heat pump technology to use the recycled water to clean the condenser. Next, the unit directly deposits the water into a standpipe, meaning that homeowners will not need to install a utility sink to collect the water.

The closed-loop system requires no heating element or ducting, and the dryer actually reuses the warm air emitted from cleaning the condenser to help dry the laundry. The dryer also has a moisture sensor that can prevent overdrying the clothes and wasting energy. Because of its ability to reuse water and hot air, the company says that the dryer is one of the most energy-efficient models in the Bosch portfolio. Altogether, the dryer can reduce energy usage by approximately 50 percent.

Both the washer and dryer feature Bosch’s smart Home Connect technology that takes “the guesswork out of laundry through a series of connected features that allow consumers to remotely control and monitor the pair from their smart device,” the company says. “From EasyStart, a feature in the Home Connect app that recommends the perfect program for each load, to receiving notifications when the cycle is complete and more, mastering laundry day has never been easier or more efficient.”

The dryer’s design includes a large LED display, a 4-cubic-foot, stainless steel drum, and a see-through door that can be set to open from both the right and the left side. With its circular side walls, the white dryer is designed to reduce vibrations, according to the company. Consumers can choose from four temperature settings and 15 preset cycles.

With settings that can reduce washing time by up to 40 percent and a design that protects against water damage, the washer also provides energy efficient cleaning, according to the company. The washer includes 15 preset wash cycles, including a sanitizing cycle that kills bacteria by heating the wash up to 170 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Depending on the cycle, the washer adjusts the direction of the drum rotation, using steeper edges for heavy duty or shallow edges for delicate fabrics that require gentler care and no snagging or stretching to your clothes,” the company says. “This ensures an intensive clean for more heavily soiled garments, and a quicker, thorough clean for the entire load.”
