One builder is welcoming tech's greater prominence in home building, the gap between the two industries "closing fast and faster — as in 5G faster."

Dan Reeves, builder and owner of Oklahoma-based Landmark Fine Homes, recently attended the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show, and expressed his excitement over new 5G technology, including its potential in home building. In an interview with News OK, Reeves says, "It's 100 times faster than 4G. With that, an area that would handle 10,000 devices will now handle 1 million devices," adding, "It will transform what's going on in our lives." 5G is anticipated to be rolled out this spring for commercial use, to deliver higher data transmission rates, greater system capacity, and wider device connectivity.

Reeves explains that this next generation of communications technology is yet another example of the speed of big data creating new industries that in turn "take out other industries," pointing to speed-data-driven ride-share companies' disruption of traditional taxi services. "There's going to be the same thing with this. We're going to have new industries that come along."
