Homeowners Can Take Care of Family Members With Accessory Dwelling Units

Projections say that by 2030, 72 million Americans will be over 65 years-old. With such a prevalent older generation, multigenerational housing will become more common.

One way home owners can accommodate family members is with ADUs, or accessory dwelling units. Realtor.com profiled some of the more impressive ADU concepts.

For example, Gary Shoemaker Architects created The Garden Pavilion, a copper-clad structure that stands on a 3-foot high fieldstone base. Lennar offers a Next Gen house: a traditional looking house that has self-contained units in it.
