Despite rising home costs, some luxury housing markets continue to draw buyers. Property broker Pacaso recently released its Top Vacation Home Markets Report for 2024, which outlines the most popular U.S. destinations for second homes throughout the year. Leading the list is Cape May County, N.J., where second homes outnumber primary residences by more than 150%. Florida also has a number of counties on the list, with traditional hot spots such as Palm Beach, Lee, Broward, and Collier counties benefiting from pandemic-driven migration and tax advantages.
“The destinations on this year’s list really capture the breadth of the luxury vacation home market,” said Pacaso CEO and Co-Founder Austin Allison. “Legacy destinations remain as timeless as ever, Florida’s panhandle is solidifying its status as a favorite for vacationers, and Manhattan is resurging as a place where buyers are doubling down on second-home investments. These aren’t just weekend getaways anymore—they’re lifestyle investments for people looking to create endless cherished memories with friends and family.” Read more
