And many buyers gravitated to small cities just beyond suburbs but still within commuting distance of major metropolitan areas, according to Zillow. In a recent report, the housing market platform named its top housing markets of 2024, ranking them based on factors such as the total number of page views, home value growth, and the amount of time listings stayed on the market.
Manchester, N.H., a Boston exurb, was named the most popular city for buyers. This is the second year the Northeast has dominated Zillow’s most popular markets. The Midwest also performed well due to its affordability, while only one West Coast market made the list.
Manchester, the largest city in the state, has seen growing interest among home shoppers. That has contributed to typical home values jumping 7.3% over the past year, up to $415,000. Still, Manchester remains more affordable than nearby Boston. Read more
