10 Cities Expected to See More New Homes in 2025

The US continues to face a housing shortage, but new housing developments are growing in some places

The U.S. is facing a housing shortage, but it's not due to a halt in construction. In fact, new homes are being built in many areas, raising the question of where development will happen next. Property data provider CoreLogic identified several metropolitan areas with strong growth indicators suggesting they are ready for new construction, including Lakeland, Fla.; Austin; Raleigh, N.C.; Dallas; and Port St. Lucie, Fla.; among others.

Looking at the top 20 metro areas that are showing signs of future growth, it is noteworthy that the majority are in the South. Only four of the MSAs shown in Figure 1 are not located in either Texas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee.

The Los Angeles area (both Oxnard and Los Angeles proper), is easily growing at the slowest pace, according to the indicators measured. Read more
