According to small-business insurance provider Pie Insurance’s 2025 State of Workplace Safety Report, which features responses from 1,000 small-business owners and decision-makers—including those in the construction industry—the main risk facing construction workers today remains physical injury. Many construction leaders also cite technology as a growing threat to construction workers when not implemented correctly. Approximately 23% of construction leaders surveyed said that an over-reliance on safety technology is the most dangerous trend in the industry.

Despite widespread belief that most workplace injuries are preventable, many construction companies may not have the infrastructure to fully support prevention. More than a quarter of decision-makers believe that 90% to 100% of accidents can be avoided, yet gaps in training and a lack of resources continue to be an issue.
