NJ Apprenticeships Help Workers Develop Construction Careers
A recent event in Essex County, N.J., highlights the importance of pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs in launching a career in the building trades

A recent event held in recognition of National Apprenticeship Week by nonprofit Pathways to Apprenticeship New Jersey (P2ANJ) and president of the Essex County Board of County Commissioners Wayne Richardson focused on promoting pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs in the building trades. Labor advocates gathered on Nov. 27 at the Essex County Hall of Records in Newark, N.J., to spotlight construction careers as “one of the best opportunities for upward economic mobility and building intergenerational wealth” available to residents in Essex County, N.J., Patch reports.
Richardson – who is also the executive director of P2ANJ – said it’s “imperative” to educate young and aspiring tradespeople about the career pathways available to them – and make sure they have the tools they need to succeed.
“A career in the building trades remains one of the best opportunities for upward economic mobility and building intergenerational wealth,” Richardson said.
