Costs, functionality, and shifting design styles all play a part in which home amenities buyers are looking for and can afford. Home design trends shift quickly, and what was once in high demand may no longer be as popular. GOBankingRates rounded up some of the most common features that have decreased in popularity in recent years. These include front porches, en-suite bathrooms, carpeting, granite countertops, and more.
While a front porch is a relaxation spot for houses, they’re becoming less popular fast. This is because most sources of entertainment and leisure are now indoors, so the need for sitting outside for leisure and interaction dwindled. Plus, traditional porches don’t allow for privacy, so people settle for backyards instead. On top of that, porches are expensive to build and don’t add to the square feet of the home.Read more
