Homes with outdoor kitchens sell for 2.2% more, on average, than the typical home.
Homebuyers are moving away from cool-toned palettes and minimalistic looks and are instead feeling inspired by bold, nature-inspired design choices. According to real estate marketing platform Zillow, houses with these elements sell for 3.5% more than expected, adding about $12,500 to a home’s anticipated value. In the kitchen, soapstone is now the top choice among buyers, even outperforming quartz. Homes with soapstone countertops now sell for 3.5% more. Comparatively, homes with quartz countertops typically sell for 2.6% more than the typical home. Wet rooms also add an additional 3.3% to the typical sales price, while outdoor showers and outdoor kitchens grow the typical home’s value by 2.8% and 2.2%, respectively.
