Fantini/Designers Collaborate on New Colored Faucets

Designers Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez have designed for Fantini a new facuet line that combines pops of color with translucent elements.

“The project is an energetic exploration of color and material, exhibited through the sensual, elegant, and refined lines for which the designers are known,” the company says of the new collection.

Nice is a collection of bath faucets that the company says creates a “colorful, at-home spa experience.” Combining pops of color with translucent elements, the pieces create optical effects that make them appear as if the handles are filled with color. In truth, there is actually only a 4-millimeter strip of color at the bottom that is reflected throughout, the company says, creating an illusion of a fully colored handle.

Thun and Rodriguez, partners of Matteo Thun + Partners, wanted to reintroduce colorful handles to Fantini’s portfolio for the first time since the 1970s, when the company introduced the I Balocchi collection. Nice is “an homage to the essence of water and its beauty: transparent, fresh, and colorful,” the designers say.

Fantini says studies show that colors can influence people's psychological state by stimulating the brain and improving moods, so the company believes the line of colored faucets “is a great way to add a pop of color in the bathroom to set the tone for the day.”

Scheduled to be introduced in summer 2019, Nice will be available in the calming colors found in the ocean—red, black, blue, turquoise, green, and white.
