Compared to survey respondents in 2013 and 2014, Americans this year tend to have a slightly less positive view on homebuying, a study found Gallup found.

Still, Americans are more positive about buying a house now than they were between 2006, when home values stopped rising and interest rates increased, and 2008, after the bubble burst.

When zoomed in by region, Americans in the Western part of the country experienced the largest drop of homebuying confidence compared to last year, falling from 75 percent to 64 percent.

Americans in the East and South experienced smaller drops in homebuying confidence, while the confidence rate for those living in the Midwest went up slightly.
