For the first time, the NAHB collected data that gives a summary of statistics to describe the typical residential subdivision being built in the United States.
An electronic survey was sent to 2,042 NAHB land developers, and a total of 266 developers responded. The resulting data shows that the median size of subdivisions was 22 acres, with a median number of housing units at 48. Four percent of these subdivisions include retail space.
