As land prices increase, the Wall Street Journal reports that the 38-year-old charity Habitat for Humanity is placing more emphasis on buying and renovating existing homes in the U.S.
When it comes to numbers, Habitat more than doubled the amount of homes it renovated to 1,435 in its 2014 fiscal year that ended June 30 from 2008, whereas new construction declined 31 percent to 3,323 in the same time period.
