The NAHB’s analysis of Census Data noted significant growth in the custom home building market in 2014.
The data came from the Census’ Quarterly Starts and Completions by Purpose and design survey, which tracks the number of starts of homes built on an owner’s land, with either the owner or a builder acting as the general contractor.
For 2014, the number of starts for such homes totaled 162,000, a growth rate of 20 percent from the 2013 total of 135,000.
