Southern cities have bounced back the most since the housing recovery, CBS News reports, using data from SmartAsset.
Nashville topped the list, with prices surging by 26 percent since they hit rock bottom. Home prices in Music City today are 11 percent higher than their pre-crisis peak. Other cities in the South doing well are Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C., and New Orleans.
The Bay Area also ranked high for recovery, with San Francisco at number two. After experiencing some of the steepest price declines in the nation during the crisis, the markets of San Francisco and San Jose are now the hottest, and prices have skyrocketed past their pre-crisis peak.
