The city of Folsom, Calif., plans to add 10,000 housing units over the next few decades, and it’s not the only city in the Sacramento region looking to grow despite the drought.
According to the Sacramento Bee, communities in the region are launching ambitious plans for housing expansion. Local water districts say they have been working to increase the region’s resiliency, which means the region is relying on continued conservation efforts to provide water supplies.
Despite all the cutbacks and the mandate from Gov. Jerry Brown in April to reduce water, the Sacramento Bee reports that “for now, it’s largely business as usual for local developers and land planners.”
