Will the Newest Households Buy or Rent?

According to Zillow Real Estate Research, experts tend to agree that credit will ease. But they are divided about whether or not that will mean more homebuyers.

After 10 years of growth for the number of renters and a stagnation of growth in homeownership, 44 percent of panelists say the current trend will continue, while 42 percent said they thought owner-occupancy would rebound.

Another 11 percent of panelists thought that both owner- and renter-occupancy would increase at robust rates.
