AARP surveys have found that environmentally friendly living measures are important to a large segment of older Americans, Next Avenue reports.
Walkability, communal gardens, energy-efficient lighting, and buildings that leave a smaller environmental footprint are sought after by many Americans looking at retiring to a new community.
Examples of such communities include Pennswood Village in Newtown, Pa., and the EcoVillage in Ithaca, N.Y.
