Houses that Appeal to American Buyers

Data released in the 2014 American Community Survey reveals that a preference for detached housing remains strong amongst buyers, New Geography reports.

The Census Bureau reported that there was a 1.8 percentage point increase of owners of detached houses since data was last collected in 2000.

“The increase may be surprising, given the efforts of planners to steer people into higher density housing, especially apartments,” writes Wendell Cox, chair of housing affordability and municipal policy for the Frontier Centre for Public Policy in Canada.
