Paul Deffenbaugh
Paul Deffenbaugh has more than 30 years of experience in construction as both a contractor and an industry thought leader. In the commercial construction market, he served as editorial director for Metal Construction News and Metal Architecture, the leading publications in the metal construction industry. On the residential side of the industry, he was editorial director for Professional Builder, Professional Remodeler, Custom Builder, Housing Giants, and HousingZone.com. He began his writing career at Remodeling magazine where he was editor in chief.
Prior to that he worked as a carpenter, learning the fundamentals of construction and briefly ran his own contracting company.
A noted industry expert, Deffenbaugh has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and most major metropolitan daily newspapers. In addition, he has appeared on CNBC, Wall Street Reports, and CBS This Morning.
A three-time winner and five-time finalist of the coveted Jesse H. Neal Award for editorial excellence, Deffenbaugh has also been recognized several times by the American Society of Business Publication Editors and the National Association of Real Estate Editors. Media he has directed has been recognized as a magazine of the year, best website, best emagazine and twice as best construction magazine in the country.
