Matt Brown’s career in the construction industry began more than 10 years ago as the Design and Quality Manager for Accent Homes Inc., a production builder in northern Indiana. He soon moved into the energy rating industry, working as Director of Research and Development for rating firm Energy Diagnostics Inc., where he was involved in code development, training, and education in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. He became involved with the energy codes at the national level, as well, attending ICC hearings and becoming an ICC Certified Residential Energy Code Inspector and Plans Examiner, a HERS Rater, and a Certified Green Professional (CGP). After joining APA-The Engineered Wood Association in July 2014, Brown works to educate the wood industry on the impacts of energy efficiency and to educate raters, code officials, and builders on the advantages of wood construction for energy efficiency and sustainability.
