Introducing the First Apple HomeKit Multipoint Smart Lock
United Kingdom-based Mighton Products says it will unveil at the International Builders Show the first Apple HomeKit-compatible smart lock that works with multipoint door systems.
Controllable from iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, keypad, or fob, the new Avia is a challenger in the smart lock systems arena, the company says.
“Avia has been thoroughly developed and extensively tested to ensure that we have a highly functional, secure and effective product that is simple to install and which works seamlessly using Apple HomeKit technology,” says Mike Derham, chairman of Mighton.
Mighton says Avia revolutionizes entrance door security. The multipoint lock is secured by raising the handle and can be unlocked using the app installed on an Apple iPhone or iPad; by using a key fob from a range of up to 98 feet; or via an electronic keypad. Later in 2019, the company will add an optional facial recognition accessory.
“There are 1.3 billion active Apple devices worldwide,” Derham says. “For everyone with an Apple iPhone or iPad, Mighton Avia will provide a stylish and highly effective Apple HomeKit-enabled smart lock solution for their home. After extensive development work with Apple, users will have the confidence that Avia will work seamlessly with their devices.”
In Mighton’s view, conventional keys become a thing of the past with access for additional users easily extended and controlled. But the brand still gives users the option. A traditional key may be used in the TS 007 three-star cylinder as an emergency backup to offer total peace of mind.
Derham says Avia is the first of a stable of smart Internet of Things products that Mighton will be bringing to market during the next few months.
The smart locks and accessories will be widely available for pre-order starting in May 2019 via the Apple website, Amazon, or direct from the Avia website, aviasmart.com. Professional customers in the U.S. will be serviced through Roto Frank of America.
