Tile manufacturer Island Stone has debuted a new glass tile collection in which no two tiles look alike.

The Patina Glass tile Collection, the company says, features tiles with randomized patterns, resulting in each tile featuring a different look and color. Island Stone says glass tiles represent an antique style, but the collection’s subway tile format adds a touch of modernity.

“Each color in the Patina Glass collection is unique in its style, allowing designers to combine tiles to create eye-catching, one-of-a-kind patterns,” says Nigel Eaton, CEO of the Watsonville, Calif.-based company. “The shine and reflection of Patina Glass is well suited for a variety of statement-making architectural uses, such as a grand backsplash in a restaurant or a chic hotel lobby, as well as for elevating the sophistication in a residential setting.”

The tiles each feature a unique appearance due to a blend of metallic oxides and reactive chemicals used to color the tiles. A protective coating over the glass tiles ensures durability for a wide array of uses, including showers, the company says.

All tiles come in 3½-by-12-inch pieces and are available in five different styles: Akoya Pearl, Silver Lining, Champagne, Bright Side, and Evening Onyx. Island Stone describes the collection’s patterns as “dreamy.”

Akoya Pearl has a creamy white base that receives a glow from the glass itself, in addition to any light that reflects off. Silver Lining blends grays, blues, and whites.

Champagne features a beige base with wisps and blends of oranges and yellows. The company says Champagne is designed to uplift whatever space it is in. Bright Side, inspired by the sky, presents a mainly white tile with clusters of softened blues.

Evening Onyx comes off as smoky and ink-stained with its black and beige palette. This tile is so reflective, it is much like a mirror, the company says.

Because the tiles are made from glass, there is much to gain from viewing the tiles in-person, says Island Stone. The way that light can bounce off these tiles can add dimension.
