Walk-in pantries topped the list of a recent study of which kitchen features home buyers want most in 2019, followed by side-by-side double sinks, and table space for eating.
Of the homebuyers who wanted walk-in pantries most above all other features in their kitchens (83 percent of all those surveyed), 32 percent say this feature is an essential, and 51 percent say it is desirable in The National Association of Home Builders' study. The second most popular feature, a double sink side-by-side, was said to be desirable or essential by 81 percent of home buyer respondents.
Along with a walk-in pantry, two other kitchen storage features make the list: pull-out shelves (73 percent) and special use storage (wine rack, etc.) (63 percent). Other items in the top ten include recessed lighting, rated essential/must have or desirable by 69 percent of home buyers, as well as drinking water filtration and customized backsplash, each rated essential/must have or desirable by 68 percent of home buyers.
