Kitchen and bath plumbing giant Kohler has expanded into the lighting category with a new collection of six new products that coordinate with its faucets and finishes.
The six collections—Artifacts, Memoirs, Damask, Simpalo, Components, and Modern Farm—comprise modern, transitional and classic sconces, pendants, flushmounts and chandeliers, and have been thoughtfully crafted to complement with the company’s plumbing and kitchen products or stand alone as decorative lighting features, the company says.
Lighting is a new product category within the Kohler luxury group, which also includes the Ann Sacks, Kallista, and Robern brands. The lighting play is a huge departure for Kohler, but it makes sense for a brand that has the kitchen, bath, tile, and furniture categories well covered.
Components is a simple minimalist collection that was inspired by a 1920's lacemaker lamp that utilized a candle and surrounded by globes of water to reflect light throughout the room; primarily for cooking and sewing.
The new lighting collection offers 200 new products (available now) and plans to launch another 200 products later this year. Each product was designed by Kohler with a focus on bathroom and kitchen applications, yet has the design versatility to easily carry into other areas of the home, from entrance way chandeliers to dining room pendants.
“More and more decorative lighting has become a way for people to easily personalize a space,” says Erin Hoover, director Design for Kallista and Kohler Lighting. “As bathrooms and kitchens reflect more individual personality, more design elements are being added, which certainly elevates the space and creates much more opportunity for design thinking and investment. You usually need to live with your bathroom and kitchen investment for some time though. Lighting can help you update these spaces without a lot of investment and effort. It is the jewelry that pulls the interior together.”
Simpalo is a modern collection with contemporary edges and sleek, simple lines.
Kohler says the company developed lighting designs to appeal to a wide range of design tastes. The first collections found their inspiration from within, drawing from some of the most regarded kitchen and bath collections under the Kohler umbrella and from what the design team instinctively saw as emerging global trends. The lighting also reflects Kohler’s finish story, offering a range of options to match and perfectly complement Kohler and Kakkista’s faucets and fixtures.
“Quality testing ensures that each light fixture will remain beautiful even after years of repeated exposure to damp environments,” the company says. “Elegant simplicity has also been designed into the products, from easy installation, removable shades, and adjustable arms for perfect placement, to diffusers for soft, ambient light. The result is a compelling assortment of lighting to fit most lifestyles and budgets.”
To support the needs of both the consumer and trade professional, the company says it will have products in stock in the U.S. and ready to ship in North America within 48 hours after order placement. Trade professional and consumers may buy lighting products through the company’s Signature Stores, Experience Centers, and select Kohler distributors, or online at kohler.com.
Influenced by the unique candle-like shape of antique apothecary jars, the Damask lighting collection can fi a variety of spaces.
Modern Farm one-light pendant was inspired by the agricultural heritage of the Kohler Co., we designed this collection with a modern mindset to offer a balanced blend of rustic and refined.
