Port Washington, N.Y.-based Modern Forms has introduced a new wet-rated smart ceiling fan featuring radio frequency and Wi-Fi capability.

The Hydra fan also offers smart integration and DC motor wiring functionality, which makes it easier to install, the manufacturer says.

“A 120-inch, wet-rated indoor/outdoor smart fan powered by an innovative DC motor, Hydra arrives with a pre-programmed hardwired RF wall control unit for instant local control right out of the box, while patent pending functionalities allow for multiple fans on one circuit as never before,” the company says in a release.

“Hydra,” the company continues, “can be controlled via Wi-Fi through the Modern Forms app, which allows multiple users to securely program the fan, making it suitable for homeowners and hospitality environments alike. It also integrates seamlessly with leading smart home devices and smart thermostats for the ultimate in home innovation.”

The fan’s DC motor is 70 percent more efficient than AC styles and integrates LED luminaires. Modern Form’s largest fan, Hydra has eight 120-inch blades and moves a massive amount of air without consuming much energy, the company adds. It comes in bronze and titanium silver.
