Housing data released jointly by the Census Bureau, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the NAR show that housing starts are back above 1 million, building permits are nearing post-recession highs, existing home sales rise despite tight inventory, home prices are within 13 percent of the 2006 peak and median new home prices are falling.
