The New Home Company forms subsidiary specializing in complex land transactions
The New Home Company of Aliso Viejo, Calif. has formed a new subsidiary, TNHC Land, to source and purchase land in key Southern California and Northern California markets. Andrew “A.J.” Jarvis has been named president of TNHC Land.
Under the leadership of Jarvis, TNHC Land was formed to secure, plan, entitle and add value to land purchased on behalf of The New Home Company. In addition, TNHC Land conducts land feasibility and underwriting. Jarvis’ homebuilding experience includes a diverse range of product types – from single-family detached to multi-family podium and Type I high rise – which prepares him for The New Home Company’s goal of artfully matching home designs with lifestyles.
“The close relationship between The New Home Company and TNHC Land provides consistency in planning, architecture and design,” said Jarvis. “We have the ability to secure and analyze complex properties, which we call ‘Insulated Market’ projects, and create plans that add value to their communities. The New Home Company then comes in and puts its stamp on it, which is building homes and neighborhoods of the highest quality.”
Jarvis says that TNHC Land prides itself of completing land transactions that are so complex many of its competitors would shy away from the deals.
“We’ve been able to come into several situations where, for one reason or another, the site was too complex for other developers,” said Jarvis. “In these cases, we’ve successfully entitled and re-planned the property to the approval – and pleasure – of each city.”
Promotions of Key Executives
The New Home Company has also announced the promotion of three veteran executives as the company expands its homebuilding and land purchasing throughout California.
Joan Marcus-Colvin, Mark Kawanami and Robin Koenemann have all been appointed senior vice presidents of their respective disciplines, after joining The New Home Company as vice presidents when the company formed more than two years ago.
As Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Design, Marcus-Colvin directs all marketing efforts, sales management and design studio operations and is responsible for brand management throughout the organization. In addition, she conducts market and consumer research and assists in the company’s product and community-development efforts. Prior to joining The New Home Company, Marcus-Colvin led the interior design team of a Dubai-based international developer. Before that, she was Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Design for Laing Luxury, the luxury homebuilding division of John Laing Homes. During her tenure, Marcus-Colvin managed more than $1 billion in sales of residential properties throughout Southern California.
Kawanami serves as Senior Vice President for The New Home Company. In addition to his primary responsibilities in finance, treasury and accounting, he also oversees human resources and information technology for the company. Previously, Kawanami was Vice President of Finance for John Laing Homes’ corporate headquarters where he was responsible for managing the placement of debt and equity financing for Laing’s land acquisition, site development and construction activities. He has 20 years of experience in the homebuilding industry and has held positions with Greystone Homes, California Pacific Homes and Woodcrest Development.
Koenemann now serves as the Senior Vice President of Operations for The New Home Company. He has overall responsibility for all construction, purchasing and customer care efforts. Prior to The New Home Company, Koenemann was Vice President of Operations at Laing Luxury Homes. In this capacity, he had direct responsibility of the construction, purchasing and customer-care teams for the division. His commitment to customer care contributed to the division ranking in the top five of Eliant’s nation-wide survey of 2008. In his 26 years as a homebuilder, he has been responsible for the construction of over 5,400 homes in Colorado, Florida and California.
“In just two years, The New Home Company has quickly emerged as one of the premier homebuilders in California, something we are all very proud of,” said CEO and Partner Larry Webb. “I’ve been fortunate to work with Joan, Mark and Robin for many years. All three have been integral to our success and in making us the builders we want to be.”
The New Home Company is one of California’s most active homebuilders. With the recent opening of Lambert Ranch in Irvine, The New Home Company also unveiled its new Life Space home designs.
The company’s signature, gated, master-planned community of 169 luxury residences in the hills of Irvine features compound estates, guest houses and private quarters in each of its three neighborhoods. The innovative Life Space homes are designed to provide room for everyone on the family tree, making Lambert Ranch one of the most forward-looking communities in the country.
Since opening on April 28, 2012, The New Home Company has released and sold close to 50 homes at Lambert Ranch.
“Lambert Ranch is a real success story and has caught the attention of the homebuilding industry, consumers and the media,” said Jarvis. “We expect all of our communities in California to have the same type of success in the new-home markets they serve.”
The New Home Company is also in the planning stages of new communities in Foster City, Larkspur and Folsom in Northern California, as well as Santa Clarita, Newport Beach and other prime locations in Southern California.
